The art of Paris

Paris, the City of Light! What a beautiful place to discover and explore. My husband and I just returned from a week in Paris and a week in London to celebrate our upcoming 15th wedding anniversary. What a dream trip! We had a truly wonderful time. I spent a little bit of time with my sketchbook, but will definitely comb through more photographs at home in my studio to create from.

We visited many different museums, churches, historical places, and of course- cafes!

The Louvre is a must do, but it can be overwhelming due to the size of its collection. I think it is best to choose what you want to see beforehand so you don’t get too tired.

The Musee d’Orsay is amazing! I spoke with so many people who said it was one of their favorite art museums in the world. I can see why. It is housed in an old train station and the art collection is perfection. Everything you want to see, especially when you think of Paris and the impressionists.

My greatest surprise was Musée de l’Orangerie. I was not planning on going but decided at the last minute to visit. The oval rooms with Monet’s waterlilies blew me away! I was enthralled with the planning and thought behind this project. Reading the story and timeline on how it came to be was very enlightening. The rest of the museum was amazing as well. Surprises around every corner. I would definitely recommend a visit to this special place.

I could add 600 more photos to this blog post, but I’ll refrain. If you have Paris on your list of places to see- you’ll LOVE it. It will always hold a special place in my heart.

au revoir for now…
